AI search fix
Does llms.txt help SEO and AI search visibility?
llms.txt is not a conventional SEO ranking factor — not in the same league as backlinks or Core Web Vitals. Google’s documentation states llms.txt is not required for AI Overviews or other generative Search features when your site is crawlable and content is helpful. The file can still aid GEO preparation for ChatGPT, Perplexity and similar systems once robots.txt allows trusted bots. It never replaces indexable HTML, internal links, or schema.org markup.
Some teams add llms.txt expecting a quick ranking lift. That seldom works when crawlers are blocked or pages are thin duplicates. Treat llms.txt as a finishing touch: pair it with robots.txt fixes, structured data, and stronger answers on the URLs you link from the file.
What actually moves SEO and AI visibility
- Crawlable, indexable HTML with clear titles and meta descriptions.
- Accurate schema.org JSON-LD on products, FAQs, and organisation facts.
- Original, people-first answers — not commodity listicles.
- Optional llms.txt as a short map after AI bots can fetch your pages.
You'll get an HTML report on crawl blocks, robots.txt, llms.txt, and schema — the baseline before expecting SEO or AI gains.
