AI search fix
FAQ schema for AI search — do you need it?
FAQ schema (FAQPage in JSON-LD) describes question-and-answer pairs on a page. It can help machines understand your FAQs, but Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in Search from May 2026 — markup alone will not restore that display. You do not need FAQ schema specifically for generative AI in Google Search. Visible FAQ sections with accurate markup can still support clarity for ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other systems when those questions are real and on-page. FAQ schema does not guarantee citations.
Do not add FAQ schema to pages without matching visible questions — that is misleading markup. Prefer a short related-questions section or a real FAQ block users can read. For SEO Q&A landing pages, on-page answers matter more than hidden schema alone.
When to use FAQPage schema
- List only questions that appear visibly on the same URL.
- Keep answers concise and aligned with the visible text.
- Skip FAQ schema on pages that are pure sales copy without FAQs.
- Validate JSON-LD after CMS or plugin changes.
- Rely on crawl access and content quality for AI readiness, not markup tricks.
You'll get an HTML report on FAQ and other schema types detected on your site.
